Ruckus R500
The Ruckus R500 is a dual-band 802.11ac wireless indoor access point designed for small to medium on-premise WiFi deployments. It features a 2×2:2 MIMO configuration, yielding up to 600 Mbps of physical layer throughput. The R500 has a single Gigabit Ethernet port and can be powered via 802.3af PoE or by a separate 12VDC power accessory. It supports MU-MIMO (Multi-User Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) capability, which helps boost network throughput by serving multiple clients simultaneously. The R500 can be managed by the ZoneDirector controller or the SmartZone controllers like SZ100, SCG200 or the vSZ. It also supports a wide range of value-added applications such as BYOD/guest onboarding, Dynamic PSK, hotspot authentication, and wireless intrusion detection.
The Ruckus R500 is an indoor access point that delivers high-performance Wi-Fi services to lower-density environments. Here are some of its features:
- Dual radios capable of concurrent operation
- 5 GHz 802.11a/n/ac radio in a 2x2:2 spatial stream configuration
- Maximum concurrent data rate of 1,300 Mbps in the 5GHz band and 400 Mbps in the 2.4GHz band
- Choice of deployment modes, including controller-based and controller-less deployment modes
- Ideal for lower-density environments across verticals, such as schools, hotels, medical clinics, branch offices, and remote workstations
The Ruckus R500 is easy to deploy and manage and includes the enhanced ClientMatch technology that extends the client steering technology with MU-MIMO client awareness. It is part of the Ruckus 500 Series Wave 2 access points that enable an all wireless digital work environment in a cost-effective manner. The R500 is ideal for cost-sensitive lower-density environments across verticals and can be deployed using controller-based or controller-less deployment modes. It is weatherproof and temperature hardened, making it ideal for outdoor environments. The R500 also has an integrated Bluetooth Aruba Beacon that simplifies the remote management of a network of large-scale battery-powered Aruba beacons while also providing advanced location and wayfinding, and proximity-based push notification capabilities.
